Logistics concepts in the corona crisis - Securing the supply of goods and raw materials

Open For Submission

Overview

Especially during the corona crisis, the demand for food and other household goods increases rapidly. People are making panic purchases and therefore pictures of empty shelves in supermarkets are appearing. The demand for medicines and medical equipment is high and online trading is booming. But what happens when a pandemic restricts logistics and thus the deliveries that are so important for us? We have to think about new logistics concepts and new ways of transportation of goods cross-border and possibly rethink the old ones.
There is a shortage of drivers and hauliers who can ensure the usual cross-border traffic, especially with Austria's neighbouring countries Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Switzerland and Italy. For food production and/or processing, this means that deliveries to production facilities abroad and deliveries for Austria from Switzerland and Northern Europe cannot be met. It also means that not enough raw materials arrive at the production facilities on time. Together with you we want to find solutions to the following questions:
  • How can cross-border logistics be carried out in times of the corona crisis?
  • How can efficient transportation of goods be guaranteed in crisis situations?
  • What possibilities are there for ensuring that the right amount of raw materials and goods are always available?

Do you already have interesting solutions to one or even more of our questions? Then we look forward to your creative ideas!
